As one of the most celebrated topics of writers and poets throughout history, Spring is frequently depicted in various forms of art. Du Fu, an eminent poet of the Tang Dynasty, writes, "Playful butterflies dance upon the air as they linger in the flower field, while carefree warblers sing out beautiful melodies alongside." By combining emotion with scenery, a sense of happiness and delightfulness is elicited as one enjoys this splendid season.

Delicately carved with dancing butterflies and blooming flowers on all ten sides, "Swaying Butterfly" cleverly captures the Spring scenery in the story, preserving it in stone for eternity. The flawless and transparent characteristics of the stone make it seem as if the Spring sunshine has been frozen inside; once touched by light, the Spring sunshine is released and comes pouring out of the stone. This soothingly ethereal stone is a marvelous piece of art worthy of being a tribute to the Emperor.
